VOICES FOR RESPECT

Creating safe, values-driven workplaces

“The right to work, the right to safety, and the right to respect are fundamental.

This is not just my story — it’s a reality for countless people.

My hope is that by raising our voices together, and by strengthening leadership capability, we can shift workplace cultures and build organisations that are truly sustainable — in every sense of the word.”

Why I Founded Voices For Respect

In my last corporate role, I found myself in the middle of something I never expected — an extended period of workplace bullying that escalated into mobbing. On paper, I was performing strongly. I was committed, delivering results, and “smashing it,” as many would say. Yet behind the scenes, the culture had turned toxic.

What I experienced wasn’t about the work. It was about the behaviours around me: persistent undermining, exclusion, and hostility that built over time. Eventually, it reached a point where the only option left was to leave. And that’s what I did. Not because I couldn’t do the job — but because staying meant sacrificing my wellbeing.

Walking away was one of the hardest decisions of my career. It was also one of the most revealing. It forced me to see just how limited the protections are for individuals when organisational culture turns harmful. Policies exist and systems are in place, but they rarely provide meaningful support. And the cost to individuals isn’t just professional — it can be deeply personal, financial, and emotional.

I know I am not alone in this. These experiences are far more common than we admit. The memes we scroll past about “Sunday dread” or “bad bosses” aren’t just jokes — they’re reflections of real pain, of people dreading Monday not because of the work itself, but because of the environments they’re forced to endure.

This is why I founded Voices for Respect. It is not about one story, or even just my story. It is about creating a platform where people can speak, be heard, and know they are not isolated in their experiences. It is a place for solidarity, for advocacy, and for driving cultural change. Because the right to work, the right to safety, and the right to respect are fundamental — and they should never be negotiable.

Through Voices for Respect, my hope is to bring awareness to the issue of workplace bullying and mobbing, to amplify the voices of those who’ve been silenced, and to create momentum for change. I want to show leaders and organisations that integrity, accountability, and respect must be lived values — not just words on paper.

Leaving my last role was not the end of the story. It was the beginning of this one. And maybe, by raising our voices together, we can shift the systems that have allowed silence to win for too long.
